Sep 21 2023 We’re going to Costa Rica in Spring 2025, and you’re invited! We’re excited to tell you more about the trip we’re planning with EF Tours, our educational travel partner. Please be sure to register for this info session to be considered for this opportunity: https://bit.ly/3RgQFFg . In the info session, we will talk all about the details and cost of the trip. When students travel, they expand their knowledge of the world around them, discover more about themselves, and grow more confident. These skills are critical for creating the global citizens of tomorrow, and we would love to have your student join us on this adventure. Your student does not need to be affiliated with any club or class to go on this trip! There are limited spots on this trip, so we would love to have you attend this meeting to learn more about this exciting opportunity! Contact Halie Craig with your questions (hcraig@sdoc.org). Dangers of the "One Chip Challenge" Sep 7 2023 The "One Chip Challenge" involves eating a pepper chip, which is sold in individual packaging (some of the packaging is in the form of a coffin). The person is to eat the whole chip and see how long he or she will "last" before seeking relief. The School District of Oconee County opposes allowing any student to participate in this challenge, and will diligently give direction and guidance of the harmful consequences of consuming the chip. If a student consumes a chip, during school hours, administration will be called immediately. A call to the parent will be made and the student will be dismissed from school and placed in the responsibility of the parent. The SDOC suggests the parent seek medical attention, for their child, by either their primary care provider or to take the child directly to the ER. Student Food Accommodations Aug 31 2023 For a student to receive food accommodations, a written order from their primary provider must be provided to the cafeteria manager. School Nurses are not responsible to get those signed, although you may provide the managers with the Food Allergy Documentation Form.
